WHAT IS THE MURGA PORTEÑA
The Murga Porteña is a phenomenon of the Buenos Aires Carnival. In Italy, about a decade ago, a group of Italian-Argentinians created the first Italian Murga in Rome: La Sin Permiso. Part of them taught it to others by creating the MalaMurga which has been the only Italian Murga for seven years was. After other murgas took form, and, in a short period of time, it has been shared all over.
HOW IT WORKS IN ITALY ON THE PORTEÑO MODEL
A Murga is made up of musicians and dancers and every Murga has its own name, its colors, its own steps and its own music, to which creation all the elements of the Murga participate.
Mimicking the clothes of the "masters" , the Murgueri are dressed in satin and cylinder, because the very nature of the Murga is a satire of power.
There is a moment in particular in the murguera "structure", the MATANZA, in which the dancers put themselves in a circle, the music changes in a clear way and one enters the RUMBA.
The laboratory will be structured in two phases: the first is that of explaining the history of the murga, what a murga is, how it works and what are the main characteristics that make it so.
The second part will be that of learning the basic movement (borracho, electrico, serpentine hand, hand mariposa, etc.), of the "tremolo" murguero, of the simplest steps. Until the final stage in which the participants will be able to take some steps and have learned the "matanza", the moment of dance-liberation typical to all the groups of murga porteña – and italian, the most important moment of the show of a murga.
