The Comaneci were born in 2005 in Ravenna by the meeting of Francesca Amati and Andrea Carella, joined, a few months later, by the cellist Jenny Burnazzi; the trio immediately produces a first self-produced EP, whose songs are chosen by Stefano Mordini for his debut movie in cinemas, Provincia Meccanica.
In 2006 they released a second EP, and the band plays live throughout Italy and prepares the songs for the debut album Volcano, published the following year by the independent roman producer Disasters By Choice.
2009 is a pivotal year for the band, which lost two of the band members. Francesca Amati remains the solo artist until the entry of Glauco Salvo. The duo immediately begins a long series of concerts, in Italy and abroad. In the summer the duo recorded the ep Girl Was Sent To Grandma in 1914, and the album You A Lie, with the production of Bruno Mattia Coletti and Doreen, due out in October of the same year promoted by a one-month European tour.
Between 2009 and 2012 Comaneci played in the United States, Austria, Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine, Denmark and throughout Italy, and shared the stage with artists like Bob Corn, Mattia Coletti, Andrea Rottin, Above the Tree, Father Murphy, Larry Yes and the Tangled Mess, Balmorhea, in Zaire and many others in more than two hundred concerts. Among other collaborations included those with Giuseppe Palumbo, Ericailcane, Bernardo Carvalho.
Since 2011 the duo, in collaboration with Enrico Zambon and Lea Tommasi, held every year a musical workshop hosted by the literary festival Cabudanne Poetas De Sos, in the Sardinian town of Seneghe.
Excerpts from the disk You A Lie are chosen once again by Stefano Mordini for his film Acciaio, in theaters in autumn 2012.
The last record release is "Uh!", a work that keeps the band busy for almost two years, showing the harmony of the duo reinforced by the intense live activity, concentrated in the search for a more personal journey. The album, recorded by Mattia Dallara to Deposito Zero Studio, comes out to Madcap Collective and Fooltribe December 9th, 2012.
