Mara Romero Borella - Movements & Martial Arts

No-Gi
With Mara Romero Borella
Friday 17 July 2026, 4:45 pm // Cortile del Guerriero
A No-Gi class open to all levels, designed to give you simple but effective tools you can apply straight away.
We'll start from a standing position, working on basic concepts of distance, timing and off-balancing, to arrive at safe, controlled takedowns. The aim is to make the transition to the ground smooth and unforced, suitable both for beginners and for those who want to consolidate the basics. Once on the ground, we'll focus on positional control: how to stabilise, manage your weight and maintain dominance over your opponent. From there, we'll build simple, smart finishes, prioritising technique and an understanding of the dynamics over strength.
The class will be dynamic and accessible, with attention to detail and room to try, make mistakes and improve together. A chance to grow, test yourself and have fun on the tatami.

How much are we willing to feel in order to be truly present? We live in an age that swings between glorifying performance and rejecting any kind of effort. But what role do confrontation, discipline and pain really play in the human journey?
An open dialogue between sporting experience, martial arts and philosophy, reflecting on the deeper meaning of struggle and on the value of lived, embodied, transformative experience.
